Project Description
Implement and evaluate the Quality Improvement Program for Missouri Long-Term Care Project (QIPMO) and assist in the residential care facility needs assessment in conjunction with the QIPMO process (MO DHSS-funded)
The Quality Improvement Program for Missouri is designed to reinforce the use of the "Show-me QI Report" and the development of quality improvement teams in nursing homes. Specially trained QI nurses conduct on-site annual visits in nursing homes, help facility staff download their "Show-me QI Report," validate the accuracy of a sample of QIs and MDSs, discuss QIs that may need further attention, offer help with the latest clinical information about care issues, and do a general walk-through to evaluate care quality in the facility. The QIP-MO site visits began with a pilot test in mid-1999 for nursing facilities and residential care facilities in the state. The foundation for the visits is the Quality Intervention Study. Both nursing home associations are in support of the project.
