| Continue to evaluate Quality Indicators to improve quality of care (NINR-funded) |
|
Efforts to improve the quality of care and outcomes for nursing home residents are constantly of concern to state and federal regulators, nursing home providers, nursing home advocacy groups, and health policy researchers. The quality indicators developed by the Center for Health Systems Research and Analysis are one measure of nursing home care quality. Types of problems which can be detected using MDS quality indicators include incontinence, skin breakdown, weight loss, dehydration, and others. We are continuing to evaluate the quality indicators derived from the Minimum Data Set for use in quality improvement as well as research.
