If a nursing facility could recognize potential care problems early enough, the facility could take steps to correct the issue before it resulted in a major care event. The MU MDS and Quality Research Team in cooperation with the Department of Health and Senior Services is currently conducting analyses of available state databases to develop a facility-at-risk model for predicting which facilities are most at risk for a major quality of care event. This model could help facilities avoid major care problems and improve resident outcomes.
